General Counselling

Counselling therapies are typically considered as a short term treatment, providing clients with a space to explore, understand and process difficult circumstances.

By providing the therapeutic "scaffolding" and specialised treatments, counsellors are able to walk alongside clients as together they discover ‘practical life answers’ by clarifying issues, exploring alternatives, developing strategies, and enhancing self-awareness.

A referral from a GP is not required to book a consultation with a counsellor.

Erin Prater Counselling

Service Overview

Erin Prater is a Complex Trauma Professional (CTP) who works primarily from a PART's approach, whilst incorporating techniques from leading, evidence-based methods, including Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and psychoanalysis. Support is offered to clients seeking to identify and overcome post-traumatic triggers, repair deep attachment wounds, help with harmful coping strategies such as substance abuse and self-harming practices, and address overwhelming emotions like shame, anger, anxiety, fear, and depression.

Erin offers empathic support and a continuing bonds approach for clients and families adjusting to a bereavement and the experience of Grief and Loss.

Erin's confidential, non-judgemental, person centred, General Counselling Service provides the added benefits of her trauma informed practice and offers support across the domains of daily living.

High intensity psychosocial support worker services are also offered to NDIS Participants.

Services are delivered to private and NDIS clients only.

Aims

Erin aims to provide care tailored to meet individuals needs as areas of concern are gently explored during counselling. Empathy and compassion support understanding of the road travelled, as courage, hope and trust open the door to learning, planning and action.

NDIS Participants engaging Erin's psychosocial support service, to access the community, benefit from her recovery focused approach to care.

Specialist Grief and Loss Counselling Services provide compassionate companionship for individuals adjusting to a loss in daily life, grieving the bereavement of a loved one or those actively journeying towards end of life.

For individuals seeking support with complex mental health challenges, Erin delivers her therapeutic services with the added benefits of lived experience, peer support, and recovery approaches.
